About Us

Mackay and Inglis, Printers and Print Finishers in Glasgow.

86 years as a family business.

In February 1932, William Mackay and David Inglis established their bookbinding and paper ruling business as a partnership in Buchanan Street in Glasgow. Still a family business 86 years later, Mackay and Inglis Limited is now managed by members of the fourth generation.

Over the years we have invested regularly, bringing new technologies into the company and keeping personnel up-to-date through training. These investments assure that workflow and efficiency is continuously improved and that we remain cost-effective and competitive.

We added more printing capacity and typesetting in the 60s, built a new factory in Polmadie with extra print and print finishing facilities in the 70s, added even more finishing options during the 80s and started digital printing in the 90s. The new millenium saw the introduction of digital colour, processless platemaking and further advances in prepress. New litho presses have followed more recently, with wide format introduced in 2016.

The company is structured around four production departments:

–     prepress

–     printing (litho ,  digital and large format)

–     print finishing

–     despatch and warehousing.

Dedicated, trained supervisors, with years of experience, head each of these departments, making sure that they run smoothly and that quality standards are maintained.

In the administration department, our office staff supports the production process in sales, estimation and order processing functions, providing customer contact at all stages.

Including its management team, Mackay & Inglis employs 30 people who, on average, have been with the company for 20 years. In fact, 36% of personnel have been part of Mackay & Inglis for at least 25 years, demonstrating the same loyalty and commitment as many of our long term customers.
