Case Studies

Our service includes design, print, finishing and fulfillment.

In 2014 Mackay & Inglis fulfilled more than 6,000 jobs for 190 different customers!

For some customers, such as Five star magazine, their product may be a vital, once a year publication, while for others it is a regular repeat order. A few customers may have weekly or monthly requirements and may demand very short turnaround times, as is the case when we produce agendas and minutes for local authorities, or concert programs. A few hundred ring bound training packs can have many different components, needing careful manual assembly, while an order for a million or more laserforms or letterheads will have our reel-fed press running at high speed, producing some 75,000 items per hour!

A few, recent examples of our printed products are listed and illustrated here. When you visit Mackay & Inglis, we can show you many more examples, demonstrating the wide range of products we have made over the years.

Woodfuel in Practice – March 2012
Design; Print; Finishing

The latest of three brochures for Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) to demonstrate the use of woodfuel in hospitality and farms and estates sectors, developed by publishing design consultancy Omnis Partners. The six page full colour A4 brochures (630 x 297mm when opened) fit economically on a B2 sheet size. 1,000 copies were printed on 250 gsm satin art paper using our Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74 five colour press. Printed sheets were cut to size, creased and folded, boxed and delivered by courier to the FCS office near Aberdeen.

Five star magazine – February 2011
Design; Print; Finishing

All creative design and layout work for this ‘collector’s magazine’ is done in-house by Chris Gray in our pre-press department. The magazine is a square (200x200mm), 92 page full colour book with an embossed logo and gold foil blocking on the front cover. 1,000 copies of the second issue were printed on Printspeed uncoated paper (300gsm for the cover and 170gsm for the text pages) on our Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74 five colour press. The books’ sections were sewn and limp bound. The third issue is now in preparation.
